Transmission

The transmission is a straight swap from the '64 GT. It consists of an OEM cast iron 4 speed bellhousing, with the OEM 3.09 first geared 4 speed. The original OEM Hurst shifter is being used. The '64s tranny hump was grafted onto the '65s tunnel and was made to be removable for easy shifter maintence. The driveshaft was shortened to work with the 8.25" axle and new U-joints were installed. The '65s three-on-the-tree shifter and linkage were scraped.

Rearend Gears

The donor cars 8.25" axle was using 2.45 gears. Rather low for a \6, but we will use them for now. They make for nice 70+ mph cruising!
